A Visit with Nik and Gaige

So never mind the fact that my head is cut off in this picture or the fact that I look like a total grease-ball; Nikki's mom took this picture and I guess that's what happens when you're a giant! :) Nonetheless, I thought I would post this picture because it's not often that I get in a visit with such and old friend!  I got home from Tahoe Sunday afternoon and ran up to Yuba to visit Nikki and meet her new baby Gaige.  It was so much fun seeing Nik and Gaige, whom by the way is his moms clone!  I probably haven't been to Nikki's parent's house for dinner since highschool and I had a blast, I've known Nik now for almost 20 years and her mom was quick to remind us of all the funny things we used to do way back when, I must say we were pretty amusing once upon a time!

I thought I'd share a few pictures from our weekend at Melinda's.  We had so much fun in Tahoe; the weather was gorgeous so we took a nice walk down to the lake and spent lots of time out on the patio.  Oliver of course is the favorite subject to photograph, he's just too much fun these days, he is developing the cutest personality and is such a chub!

Today is Melinda's Birthday and I want to wish her the happiest of days!!! I got so lucky marrying into Jeremy's family and I am especially grateful for my wonderful mother-in-law, she does so much for all of us and we are so grateful to have such a wonderful woman/mother in our lives! Tonight the whole family is heading up to Lake Tahoe to celebrate with her and I couldn't be more excited to get away to her pretty little house, put on my party hat and relax!!!

My 10 favorite things about Melinda...
1) The first time I met her I thought she was the cutest little red head I had ever seen! I still do by the way, but she was hilarious, she had shown up to dinner wearing this flashing guitar pin on a blazer, she laughed at herself all night...it was a moment I will never forget!
2) She is incredibly loving.
3) She is a fabulous mom and loves and cares for her kids in such a selfless manner.
4) She loves to decorate and she is great at it...her house always looks amazing!
5) She is incredibly generous and is constantly making sure that all of her family is well taken care of.
6) She is impulsive; one day we woke up and were told that she had fulfilled her dream of owning a house in Lake Tahoe!
7) Her constant support and determination resulted in the raising of 3 great kids, all of which have it together, something that I consider an amazing accomplishment this day in age!
8) I think one of her proudest moments was the day Oliver was born, she is so happy to be a grandmother and is so supportive to Matt and Angela.
9) She is a bundle of contradictions; she is sweet and loving and full of fire, she is happy and entertaining, yet determined and successful.
10) She laughs the hardest at herself and her own jokes, it is totally contagious.

We are just winding down from a wonderful Easter Sunday!  Both of our families came and spent the day at our house; the weather was gorgeous, we ate our hearts out, all the while keeping a tight watch on the Masters.  I just love the fact that our families get along so well and we can all celebrate together for holidays like this...I know we won't be able to do this forever as both families continue to grow, so for now I am enjoying every moment of it!  I hope that everyone else had a wonderful Easter!!!
